Getting to Know the Nardi Extreme Series: Versatility & Power for Every Application

Updated: Sep 25

Choosing the right compressor can be confusing—especially with so many different names and models across the Nardi Compressori product range. Each line is designed with specific uses in mind, but for new customers, those differences are not always obvious. This blog series is designed to guide you through the unique features of each Nardi compressor family—explaining where they fit, the pressures they reach, the flow rates they deliver, and the options available. By the end of this series, we hope you’ll have a clear sense of which Nardi compressor is the best fit for your needs.

The Extreme series is one of the most diverse and adaptable compressor families in the Nardi lineup. Built on oil-free technology and available in a wide variety of configurations, the Extreme line covers everything from general-purpose, low-pressure units to silenced compressors, surface-supply diving systems (hookahs), medical air models, industrial multi-power (MP) systems, and even breathing air compressors for industrial applications like supplied-air respirators (SAR, or “airline” respirators).

The Extreme family represents a step up from the Esprit line—offering more air delivery, larger tanks, more power options, and an even broader range of applications.

Extreme Silenced

Overview

For environments where noise reduction is essential, the Extreme Silenced models are housed in a specialized noise reduction hood that bring noise levels down to as low as 61 dB—making them suitable for labs, medical spaces, and noise-sensitive workplaces.

Key Specifications

  • Flow rates: ≈ 7.0–14.1 cfm (200–400 L/min)

  • Operating pressure: Up to 114 psi (8 bar)

  • Power ratings: ≈ 0.75–2.0 hp (0.55–1.5 kW)

  • Noise level: ≈ 61-67 dB

  • Tank capacities: 25–50 L (6.6–13.2 gal)

  • Weight range: ≈ 79.5–195 lb (36–86.5 kg)

Extreme Hookah

Overview

The Extreme Hookah models are designed for surface-supply diving. These oil-free compressors supply continuous air to divers through hoses, making them a tankless alternative for shallow-water diving, treasure hunting, underwater maintenance, and recreational activities. Available in AC electric, DC (12 VDC / 24 VDC), and gasoline versions, they are compact, portable, and robust.

Key Specifications

  • Flow rates: ≈ 8.5–13.4 cfm (240–380 L/min)

  • Operating pressure: Up to 145 psi (10 bar)

  • Power ratings: 1.5–3.0 hp (1.1–2.2 kW) or 500–800 W DC motors

  • Noise level: ≈ 72–85 dB

  • Tank capacities: 5–7 L (1.3–1.8 gal)

  • Weight range: ≈ 51–132 lb (23–60 kg)

Extreme Medical

Overview

Extreme Medical compressors are designed for dental and healthcare applications, delivering clean, oil-free, and dry air with extremely low noise levels. These models often feature integrated dryers and silenced cabinets for medical-grade performance.

Key Specifications

  • Flow rates: ≈ 7.4–12.4 cfm (210–350 L/min)

  • Operating pressure: Up to 114 psi (8 bar)

  • Power ratings: ≈ 1.0–2.0 hp (0.75–1.5 kW)

  • Noise level: As low as 52 dB

  • Tank capacities: 25–90 L (6.6–23.7 gal)

  • Weight range: ≈ 77–176 lb (35–80 kg)

Extreme Multi-Power (MP)

Overview

The Extreme MP (Multi-Power) line is built for industrial applications that demand higher air delivery and energy efficiency. Equipped with the LP CONTROL DEVICE (LPCD), these units can operate up to three pump units autonomously—starting and stopping pumps as needed based on air demand. This ensures balanced run time, reduced energy peaks, and minimized wear.

Key Specifications

  • Flow rates: Scalable, depending on the number of pump units (1–3) in use

  • Operating pressure: Up to 145 psi (10 bar)

  • Power ratings: Multi-motor configurations with automatic load balancing

  • Control system: LPCD with touchscreen interface, data logging, alarms, and IoT compatibility

  • Applications: Industrial shops, manufacturing, continuous-use environments
